What it costs to dump big items in Durham
Durham prices big items with prepaid coupons and stickers, and each property gets one free trailer load a year.
| Item or rule | What the town publishes |
|---|---|
| Mattress and box spring | $15 bulky waste coupon; a mattress with its box spring counts as one set |
| Couch or stuffed furniture | $15 per item, or $30 for a regular pickup load |
| Freon appliances (fridge, freezer, AC, dehumidifier) | $15 sticker per item |
| TVs and monitors | $15 sticker per item |
| Tires | Covered by the free resident permit |
| Demolition debris | Regular pickup load $30, 1-ton pickup $45, dump trailer $85 |
| Free yearly coupon | One dump trailer load of bulky waste per property per year, from Public Works |
| Permit and hours | Free resident sticker; Tue and Sat 7:30 am to 3 pm |
The free yearly load helps, yet a full house can need more loads and a sticker for every fridge and TV. We fit it all into one planned job and one price.
